HEAVEN IS REAL
By interpreting the essay ‘Heaven is Real’: John Maus and the Truth of Pop, I made two printed editions of the essay. Two editions occupies two different processes and approaches to show the designers role within the process.
.
“EDITION ONE - LESS AGENCY / TRANSLATOR
”
I perform as the role of translator in designing the book and I use as less agency as possible for designing the book, but the book still communicates and interprets the essay clearly by the way its layout and the way I set up the typefaces.

“EDITION TWO - MORE AGENCY / AUTHOR”
I perform as the role of author in designing the book, bringing in my own understanding and concept to it. My concept is to design a french-fold book, combining images refer to “hell moments” with the essay on the pages but hide all the “heaven moments” in the fold. I am telling the viewers that heaven is just hidden and we have the chances to find it.
